Oct. 24 class: Field trip to SLC

Our apprentice book this month is "On Wings of Faith" by Frederick Babbel.  It tells the story of Pres. Benson's mission to Europe to take humanitarian aid to the members of the church after WWII.

Please do the following to prepare for the book discussion and field trip to SLC to Welfare Square and the SLC temple.
  • Read "On Wings of Faith" by Frederick Babbel.  Mark your book and watch for themes.  
  • Write your favorite quotes in your commonplace book and come to the discussion ready to share.
  • Watch Pres. Nelson's talk from our most recent General Conference about the Church's humanitarian work throughout the world.  You can find it here.
Our day will go as follows:
  • 9AM - Meet at the Eagar's house at 865 N 750 E Orem for opening and book discussion
  • 10:15 - Pile in cars and drive to SLC
  • 11:30 - Arrive at Welfare Square and talk with Bro. Barber about his job at Welfare Square.
  • Noon - Tour Welfare Square
  • 1:15 - Eat lunch in cars on our drive from Welfare Square to Temple Square
  • 1:30 - Arrive at the SLC temple for baptisms or the Church History Museum (one group will be going to each place at the same time.  You can go with whichever group you'd like)
  • 3pm - Drive home from SLC

  • 4pm - Arrive back at the Eagar's.  End of Vanguard day.
Please bring the following:
  • Your temple recommend if you're doing baptisms 
  • Come dressed in church clothes if you're doing baptisms
  • Bring a lunch that DOESN'T need to be refrigerated (we'll be eating in the cars)
  • Bring or wear a coat, it will be cool and we'll have to walk outside a bit
  • Your commonplace book for the book discussion
